The Vanishing Turn Signal

We’ve all seen it - or not seen it: the missing turn signal. Someone merges without warning, turns abruptly, or slows down suddenly at a corner. Maybe we’ve even been that someone, telling ourselves, “No one’s behind me,” or “It’s not a big deal.”

But here’s the truth: failing to signal isn’t just a driving faux pas - it’s a moment of disregard. A small, quiet decision that says, “I matter more than anyone else right now.”

Ethical living starts with recognition - seeing the people we share space with. On the road, a turn signal is a literal sign of respect: “I see you. I want you to be safe. I’m giving you time to react.”

When we skip it, we’re not just shaving seconds off our day - we’re putting others at risk and eroding trust in the silent agreement that keeps traffic flowing and people alive.

💡 Personal Challenge:

This week, make a point to use your turn signal even when no one seems to be around. Let it become a spiritual discipline - a small gesture of mindfulness and respect for the unseen.

🙏 Prayer:

God of all direction, teach me to live with awareness. Help me see the people around me and treat them with care - even in the smallest of ways. May I never grow so rushed that I forget the sacredness of shared space. Amen.
